Every Journey Starts With A First Step
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
— Viktor Frankl
Dr Kim Woodward
Clinical Psychologist
I am privileged to work with individuals from all walks of life who are brave enough to reach out for support, seeking to relieve themselves of their suffering. This suffering can take on many forms; from low mood, substance use/abuse, eating disorders, body-image disturbances, traumatic stress, anxiety, panic, phobias, relationship difficulties, identity issues, low self-esteem, difficulties coping, to loneliness and despair.
I have a particular interest in working with people who struggle with disordered eating, body-image disturbances, and feelings of low self-worth/low self-confidence. I am also passionate about working with people who experience a wide range of other psychological struggles; including trauma, addiction, difficulties with emotions, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, sleep disturbances, personality disorders, stress & coping, and personal growth areas. I believe that life is too short for anyone to feel at war with themselves, feel uncomfortable in their own skin/body, struggle to cope, and to continue to suffer.
I strive to provide a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space for individuals to explore themselves, the things with which they struggle, and to make meaningful change in their lives.
I am humbled by the courage of those who seek support and I feel honoured to help guide people in setting themselves free from their suffering. I aim to help people to better understand their own symptoms, explore the functions these serve (maladaptive or otherwise), and enhance their use of adaptive coping skills; so that they may move forward and experience life in more fulfilling and enriched ways.
Take Action
Ready to take the next step? Taking action to reach out and seek the support of a therapist can sometimes be both a scary and empowering process. Ultimately, I believe it takes courage to face the difficult parts of our lives and the things with which we are struggling; and bravery to commence a journey towards developing a better understanding of ourselves and living a more fulfilling life.
Sometimes taking the first step can be the hardest. We are here to help guide you through the process of starting your therapy journey and support you each step of the way.
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
